In 1996, on a 386SX system, I developed real-time, procedurally generated 3D rendering software—an approach that would not appear commercially for another two decades and is now widely acclaimed through modern titles such as No Man’s Sky.
During a life-or-death emergency, I swam from a desert island across a major shipping channel to the mainland in order to secure para-rescue assistance for a stranded companion.
I have successfully argued legal positions before judges on three separate occasions, despite having no formal legal training. Once, on a dare, I was challenged to calculate the distance to the Sun without the use of technology. By measuring the path of a sunbeam across a wall throughout the day, I calculated a distance of approximately 93 million miles; within accepted astronomical values.
I unintentionally founded a neighborhood lawn service after borrowing a mower to help a neighbor avoid HOA fines. Within two weeks, I had become the primary service provider for the area. As demand exceeded individual capacity, I hired labor and expanded operations.
I have rebuilt my life after total loss on multiple occasions, including the sudden destruction of my home due to a fire and an unexpected eviction caused by a landlord absconding with rent payments, leaving only a 72-hour notice posted by the sheriff.
I have also experienced immediate personal loss, having held a beloved family member as they passed, and carry a clear understanding of grief, responsibility, and presence under extreme emotional strain.
My experiences include surfing in California, skiing near Reno, hiking the Grand Canyon, rebuilding a church and schoolhouse in a remote rural village in Mexico, solo-cycling across Texas, participating in hurricane recovery efforts, snorkel diving in the Florida Keys, and competitive cycling at a level that included sprinting alongside—and ahead of—Lance Armstrong.
Collectively, these experiences have reinforced a consistent conclusion: with innovation, discipline, and focus, I honestly believe that I can do anything I set my mind to.
